Injectables And Skincare Go Together Like Cheese & Crackers!

Aging is inevitable, as are the changes you’ll see in your skin as you age. The obvious ones are wrinkles and fine lines forming around your eyes, forehead, and mouth.

There are a few other aging signs you might notice as the years march on:

  • Your skin has less moisture, so it feels dry

  • There’s an increase in pigmentation on your skin

  • The plump skin of your youth is disappearing by the day

  • Pesky fine lines and wrinkles start forming (ugh!).

Wrinkles and fine lines can be treated with cosmetic injectables. Anti-wrinkle and dermal filler smooth out wrinkles and fine lines. If you have regular treatments, anti-wrinkle will prevent new lines from appearing.

Here’s a truth bomb: no amount of anti-wrinkle or filler will improve the texture of your skin! Anti-wrinkle won’t treat pigmentation or the elasticity of your skin or enhance the moisture in your skin. That’s the job of skincare.

So, just like diet and exercise are essential for overall health and well-being, cosmetic injections and skin care are, too!

Skincare is skin health and necessary if you’re a fan of injectables. But if you’re unsure where to start to improve your skin health, we’ve got your back. Read on for hints and tips to enhance your anti-wrinkle treatments. *

Moisture Matters

Hydration is essential to enhancing anti-wrinkle injections!

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) should be your new best friend. Not only does it help your skin retain moisture, it improves skin elasticity and reduces the appearance of fine lines (bonus!).

Tip: After cleansing your face in the morning, add a few drops of HA serum to dampen the skin and finish with lashings of your favourite moisturiser. Plenty of moisturisers contain HA if you don’t want to add another step to your morning routine.

Moisturise day and night – trust me, your skin will thank you!

The Wonders Of Vitamin C

Dermatologists love Vitamin C for an excellent reason. Found naturally in citrus fruit, it is nothing short of amazing. This wonder vitamin provides sun protection, and reduces pigmentation.

See why dermatologists love it?

As a bonus, it will brighten your skin and tone.

Tip: add a few drops of Vitamin C serum – preferably active – after you’ve applied your HA and before moisturising. It’s best used as part of your morning routine.

A bonus tip: while Vitamin C does provide some protection from the sun’s harsh rays, it should NEVER replace sunscreen.

Vitamins A and B Before Bed

If you have regular cosmetic injections and aren’t including Vitamins A & B in your evening skincare routine, you should be!

Let’s start with Vitamin A—or retinol, as it’s commonly known. As we age, we stop producing collagen, which makes our skin more elastic. Vitamin A helps stimulate collagen production, reducing the appearance of fine lines.

But the benefits don’t end there—it also stimulates cellular turnover, which will help improve the overall texture of your skin and reduce pigmentation.

Now moving onto Vitamin B – known as Niacinamide. The list of benefits is vast. It’s easily absorbed, so it is a hard worker and goes deep into the skin layers where it’s most needed.

Vitamin B's wonders include reducing redness and sallowness in your skin. Most importantly, it improves the texture of your skin, refines pore size, and improves moisture in your skin.

Tip: Use both Vitamin A and B in the evening before bed. After you’ve cleansed, add a few drops of Retinol and Niacinamide, then finish off with your favourite moisturiser to lock in all that amazingness.

Take Sun Protection Seriously

This one is easy: apply sunscreen every day ending in ‘Y’, especially during the spring and summer.

Did you know exposure to the sun’s rays (UVA and UVB) accounts for 80-90% of the visible signs of aging? Yes, wrinkles, dry skin and pigmentation are all due to excess sun exposure!

Here’s a great tip from dermatologists: during the football season (April to September,) the UV rays aren’t as harsh, so Vitamin C will provide enough sun protection to prevent aging while still getting enough Vitamin D, which is essential for bones.

Applying sunscreen, with minimal sun exposure during summer months, is a non-negotiable …. apply it daily!

In the sun, try to screen before or on top of your makeup every morning to protect you from the sun’s harsh rays. And don’t forget to reapply throughout the day.

Final thoughts

Your skin is your largest organ, and you must take care of it, especially your face and neck.

So whether you’re considering cosmetic injectables or you’re a regular anti-wrinkle or filler user taking care of your skin is essential.
